Where The Wild Things Are
This design workshop was part of Library@Orchard’s ‘Design for Children’ series. In 2017, the library started a ‘Design for Children’ series to bring in creative and educational programmes for a younger audience. Library@Orchard has a strong focus in design and a wide collection and programmes catered to teens and adults.
This workshop for kids was created around the idea of exploration. We chose the book ‘Where the Wild Things are’ by Maurice Sendak, to talk about self-discovery. Children were invited to listen to the story first before embarking on creating their own paper monster. They were also encouraged to think about their monster’s personality and character.
